Ha Tinh is located in focal economic region of Central Vietnam in an area of 6,054.85 km2 inland and more than 18,000 km2 sea surface. Inland terrains are divided into 3 distinct types: plain, mountainous, coastal areas. Its population is more than 1.3 million people. It borders with Nghe An province to the North and Quang Binh province to the South and shares 145 km border with Laos PDR to the West and looks to the Eastern Sea (South China Sea) along 137 kilometer coastline.

Natural resources and minerals:

- Thach Khe iron mine: has a reserve of above 544 million tons, whose iron content being 62.1% and is under exploitation.

- Titanium mine:  has a reserve of above 5 million tons, of which 100-150 tons have been currently exploited per year.

- Clay is distributed in almost every district of the province. Big mines have the reserve of about 65 million m3.
 

- Granite mines: reserves of above 1.1 billion m3.

- Kaolin, manganese, tin, gold in mineral sand and mineral water have quite big reserves.

- Agriculture, Forestry, and Aquaculture: Ha Tinh is potential in natural resources both in forest and sea and has significant land fund for the development of cultivated, exploited, caught, processed and consumed and exported products in these fields.

Technical Infrastructure:

- Power supply: Ha Tinh situates under the North-South 500 KV electricity transmission line, which controllably supplies electricity to North Central provinces. A thermal power centre with capacity of 4,800 MW is under construction in Vung Ang Economic Zone. So far, 100% communes in the province have been supplied electricity from the national power grid.

- Transportation: North - South railway, National Road No. 1A and Ho Chi Minh Highway run along the province; National road 8A connects with Laos through the International Border gate of Cau Treo; National Road No. 12 connects Vung Ang deep Sea Port, through Chalo Border Gate and Tha Khet town - Kham Muan  province (Lao PDR), with North - Eastern provinces of Thailand.

Tourism:

Ha Tinh has many beauty spots at national and international scale, such as: Thien Cam (Cam Xuyen), Xuan Thanh (Nghi Xuan), Chan Tien (Loc Ha), Ky Ninh, Mui Dao (Ky Anh) beaches; Ke Go lake, Huong Tich pagoda, Hong Linh 99-peak mountain range and several nationally-recognized historical and cultural relics .

People and culture:

Ha Tinh is the motherland of many national heroes and cultural celebrities, e.g. Nguyen Du great poet, Nguyen Cong Tru, Phan Dinh Phung, Tran Phu, Ha Huy Tap national heroes, and lately Xuan Dieu, Le Van Thiem, Hoang Xuan Han celebrities…

 Ha Tinh people are laborious, creative, hard-working and studious. The labour forces are young and abundant with quite high general knowledge base. The system of available vocational schools are qualified enough to meet the worker training demand of investors and enterprises.
