Vung Ang Economic ZoneVung Ang Economic Zone was established according to the Decision No. 72/2006/QD-TTg, dated April 3rd 2006 of the Prime Minister in a total area of 22,781 ha, situating in 9 Southern communes of Ky Anh District, Ha Tinh province. It looks to the Eastern Sea to the North and East, borders with Quang Binh province to the South and shares borderlines with communes of Ky Khang, Ky Tho, Ky Hai, Ky Hung and Ky Anh townlet.
Its terrain and location is very advantageous: its back leans on the mountain; its face looks to the Eastern sea. It is 60 kilometres far from Ha Tinh city and Thach Khe iron ore mine. It holds Vung Ang - Son Duong deep sea port complex which can accomodate vessels of 5-30 ten thousand D.W.T. The Economic Zone locates on the North - South traffic axis and the East - West economic corridor which is favorable for transportation and development.
Vung Ang Economic Zone has a large land fund apropriate for industrial and urban development. In addition, its diversification in terms of topography is favourable for the development of trade, services, eco-tourism, vacation, especially beach tourism.
Through National Road No. 1A, Ho Chi Minh Highway and National railway, Vung Ang Economic Zone can be economically linked to all regions throughout the country. The National road No. 8A and 12 connect the economic zone with Ho Chi Minh Highway to Cau Treo and Cha Lo border gate, which is the shortest way from a Vietnamese seaport to Central Laos and North-Eastern Thailand and creates favourable conditions for regional economic cooperation and development. Through international maritime route, its is easy to get to South Asian, North American and European countries from the Vung Ang - Son Duong deep sea port. This is also a gate-way to the sea for Laos PDR and North-Eastern provinces of Thailand.
Vung Ang Economic Zone is now eventful with 60 projects licensed and total investment capital registered of above VND 180,000 billion. Among which typical projects are: Son Duong sea port and integrated steel mill project with total investment value of nearly USD 8 billion invested by Taiwanese Formosa group; Tau Voi lake tourism - service centre project – USD 70 million, Vung Ang I thermal electricity plant – USD 1.2 billion; USD 100 million Steel refining plant invested by Ha Tinh Iron and Steel Joint Stock Company, etc. In addition, some other major projects which are under procedures to be licensed are: USD 12-billion Petro refining and chemistry mill project invested by Formosa Group, USD 5 billion Steel complex Project invested by TATA Group - India, Billet fining project invested by Thach Khe Steel JSC., Industrial zone and Vocational training school Project by Vision Land Company - Korea, etc.
In the future, Vung Ang Economic Zone is expected to become a dynamic and efficient industrial, trading and service city at regional and international scale, where conducts main activities as: deep sea port service, industry, trade, services, finance in an environment of sustainable social and cultural development, environmental ecology and of great attractions to investors, visitors and inhabitants.
Gia Lach Industrial Zone- Locates in Xuan An township, Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province, near National road No. 8B and close to National road No. 1A, 5km far from Vinh city center, 45km far from Ha Tinh city and 103km far from Cau Treo International border gate.
- Locates 6km far from Xuan Hai sea port which can accomodate ships of 3,000 DWT, 20km from Cua Lo sea port which can accomodate ships of 10,000 DWT.
- Has total area of 350 ha, the detailed master plan in 100 ha of which has been approved by Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee in accordance with the latter’s Decision No. 3282/QD-UBND dated December 17th. Prioritized fields callling for investment include: Building of infrastructure in the industrial zone; eletronics, processing of cattle foodstuff, forest products, sea products; textile and garment; electric product producing and assembling; packages and bags; food processing; producing of household goods.
At present, one factory has been put into operation in Gia Lach Industrial Zone.
- Power supply: got from national power grid, which passes the Industrial Zone in the North, through a central distribution station.
- Water supply: supplied along National road No. 8B.
Ha Vang Industrial Zone- Locates in Can Loc district, Ha Tinh province, 20 km far from Ha Tinh city, 30km far from Vinh city, and adjuscent to National road No. 1A and National road No.8A start point running through Cau Treo Economic Zone and Cau Treo International Border Gate to Lao PDR. These are favourable for doing business with all regions throughout the country and abroad.
- Locates in the area that agriculture and farm economy are effectively developed.
- Locates near nationally recognised historical and cultural relics such as: Dong Loc Crossroad Monument, Huong Tich pagoda, ... which has the potential for tourisim.
- Has total area of 300 ha, the detail master plan in 100 ha of which has been approved by Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee in accordance with the Decision No. 294/QD-UBND dated January 29th 2008. Prioritised fields callling for investment includes: Building of infrastructure in the Industrial zone; processing of agricultural, forest, aquatic products; Assembling; mechanic, accessory manufatures; electricity, electronics; producing of construction materials; producing of housewares and residential products.
At present, in Ha Vang Industrial Zone, three factories have been put into operation.
- Power supply: got from national power grid, well satisfies producing and residential electricity demand in the area.
- Water supply: got from the clean water plant with the capacity of 2.000 m3/day-night, water can be supplied from Nghen river, 500m away from the Industrial Zone.
